BBQ in the 'hood

Because we've been having temperatures over 100*, doing anything outside REQUIRES water. Luckily the folks in our ward knew this when they planned a BBQ for us. Bless them.

Everyone brought a side or dessert and one of the guys in our ward hooked us up with some very fun games. There were some volleyball nets, good friends and lovely conversation. Even in the make-you-wanna-rip-your-clothes-off heat.

Don't be alarmed though. No clothes were ripped off in the making of this BBQ.

*There are a lot of pictures. :)

So we knew there were going to be water games. I was envisioning water volleyball or something. Um, yeah.

Jack loved this! And he had pretty awesome aim too. What an arm. Perfect match for Maddy!

It was a great turnout, even with the heat.

Hudson and Dylan spent a lot of the time throwing Mike's Mt Dew bottle back and forth. It was BLAZIN' hot.

Some of the other kids. Most of them are related somehow. :)

Maddy had been working up the nerve to go down the slide. I never thought she would, just climbing up those steps was a chore. (Thankfully someone helped her up.) But she did it! And she loved it. It's amazing how proud of her I was - she's pretty brave, really! Especially compared to me.

Ready... Set... Go!!

Hahaha. Look at her face!

I got distracted taking pictures of everything, and finally someone flagged me down and let me know Hudson was in the mud. I didn't care, per se, but I didn't jump up and down with joy either. That was a new shirt, after all. :) I think I better get used to it, right? (Assuming it ever rains or whatever.)

We left shortly thereafter.

love the look on maddy's face near the end of the slide! we have a huge (3 story) slide at the state fair, and oliver went down with bryan this year. after, he came running up to me, just BAWLING, and cried, "mom! that was SO SCARY! i want to do it AGAIN!!" boys.

and it's a bajillion degrees out and mike is wearing long sleeves?!?! w. t. h.

I was also going to say pretty much the same thing about the long sleeves!! Eesh!

(I don't like my kid getting dirty, either. Okay, well, I should rephrase that and say, "I don't like my kid getting dirty in clothes." It's not just you. And really...is it required that boys be dirty? Still workin' on that one...)

Oh my... the head-bump greeting. So funny! Dyl surely shows his love for the Hud in strange ways. :)

Ladies, you should know Mike chooses fashion over comfort. Ha!

What a fun event! We never have cool stuff like that in our ward! Oh, and I didn't even notice the long sleeves...I had to go back and look.

Man, what a neighborhood party! By the way, I haven't checked in on you forever and I've been missing out! What a fun, eventful summer ya'll have had! The kids are as cute as ever. And why is Hudson such a little boy already??? I so wish we lived closer. :(

I totally noticed the long sleeves and thought the same thing as the other girls...lol Fashion over comfort? He must not be a sweaty person...like me and my family. (yeah, I guess we are gross.)

There is really no keeping my boys clean, since they sweat like crazy anyway. I just have to be okay with it...it is what it is and clothes can be washed (or stained forever), as long as they are having fun. Very fun post!
