Hudson is such a character. He is always giggling, running around, looking for something else to get into. He also loves to take things from people and run away, laughing all the while. Maniac, I tell you. He likes to rough house and play, and is just busy. I have a really hard time keeping up with him, honestly. He falls a lot, has bruises / cuts / scrapes all the time.

When he was just getting to be mobile, and would crawl over to something, or knock over something he shouldn't, I would say, "NO" and the kid would just start sobbing. Now? Hahahahaha. Telling him no, yelling "NO!!" at him, smacking his hand, timeouts... Nothing works. But I'm *trying* to be consistent. He is much more persistent than my consistency, if that makes sense. When I walk him to his room for time out (since he'll no longer just go when I tell him), he has a smile on his face. ARG.
He is talking so much now. At his 18 months appointment, I had to fill out this gigantic questionnaire. It asked, among other things, if he was saying 15 words. I thought and thought (I've not really ever been one to count words) and thought, NO WAY! Maybe 10, maybe. And then I swear, the next day, he started talking more. I'm sure most of it is only things Mike and I can understand, but it's progress! At night, we sit in the rocking chair, and he'll put his hands out and make the motion for 'Popcorn' and say, "Puh?" So then we sing 'Popcorn Popping.' Then he'll make the motions for 'Itsy Bitsy Spider' and say, "Iiii?" When I get up to put him in his crib, he says, "Chaaaa?" (Chair.) Hilarious. And it's just this little tiny (almost whiny) voice, so pathetic-like. Love that kid. A few other words include: Hi, bye (which comes out with a Southern drawl, I kid you not), silky, chicken, mama, dad, Buck, ball, baseball, car, more, Elmo, cheese, night-night, Dylan, pee-pee, please and walk. He's a lot of fun!!

Some of his favorite things - Elmo, the TV being on 24/7, his milky, his silky, his cookie monster I got him at Goodwill in California, Maddy, the remote, NutriGrain bars, spilling everything he can, broccoli, any kind of meat, and running away from his mother. :) He still will sometimes take two naps a day - a nice, long one in the morning, and a short one in the late afternoon. I do that if he wakes up earlier than normal. But most the time, he takes one nap around 1230 PM. Most of the time, it lasts 2.5-3 hours. Soooo nice.
At his check-up, his stats were:
Height - 32.5 inches (50th %ile)
Weight - 25.11 pounds (25-50th %ile)
Head circumference - 51 centimeters (>95th %ile)
One funny story - When we say the prayer, he is super adorable when he folds his arms. And when the prayer is over, he says, Duh-da. (Amen?) Well, one time I made the mistake of opening my eyes and looking at his adorably chubby arms and.. he caught me! He opened his eyes, we shared a little giggle, and I put my finger up to my lips and said "Ssssshhh." Well now every time we say a prayer, I open my eyes and he looks at me and puts his finger to his lips and says, "Ssssshhhh." :)

He started Nursery on Maddy's birthday (October 9th) and had a pretty okay day. I am right next door in Sr Nursery, so I was able to keep an eye on him. His best friend Dylan started the same day, and Dylan did NOT have that good of a day, so I think Hudson was upset about that. Overall though, it was fine. The next Sunday though... Oh boy. Another story for another time. Bottom line - I'm nervous for this week. :( But Mike will be there (he hasn't been the last couple weeks), so he can worry about it! :)

First day of Nursery! Wish I'd gotten a better picture, but that morning was... crazy.
He runs almost everywhere, climbs on everything, eats just about anything we put in front of him, but he still takes the time to snuggle a bit here and there. He loves to give hugs and kisses, and is a HUGE flirt.

I am so grateful that this boy is in our family. I don't know where we'd be without him.
Happy 18 months, Hudson!!!

5 Two Cents Worth:
I loved reading about him. I'm pretty sure he called me 'rahrah'
(grandma) a few times. I love that pic you took of him on his first day of nursery. What a beautiful boy. Mark thinks he looks like Mike and also, Travis. (I didn't even mention the fact that we had seen the resemblance. I love your children so much!! (and their parents, of course)
He is adorable! I love those curls!! To me, he looks like you and Maddy looks like her Dad. Boys are fun! I know about how active they can be (oh boy, do I ever)...so bring on #3. Love this post and the photos Stacie took are awesome!
ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Hudson is 18 months old? This blows my mind!!
He is such a cute boy! I'm willing to bet he's still the cutest one in the ward :)
Best pictures ever!!! And hopefully Hudson can whip Dyl into shape in that nursery. :)
