Welllll, I was really nervous about this. I almost didn't want to go, just in case they took him away in handcuffs. ;) Jenny came out and kept the kids for us and we headed out to the school. We were met at the door by two of his peers, where one took me one way, and the other took Mike a different way. It was all so secretive and really was freaking me out. When we got to this auditorium, the girl at the door knew me already, and welcomed me. She guided me over to a gigantic food table and told me to help myself. At this point, the only other people in the room was Professor Ridge (the one that had sent Mike the letter) and some lady he was talking to. We were early (for once!) so I sat there, without eating, and waited. And waited, and waited. Finally, a couple other women showed up and sat down. Not by me, mind you. (Why do women always do that? Go sit by someone if you see them sitting alone!) We chatted a bit and then the lights dimmed and one of the girls stood up at the front with a microphone and started with, "Each semester, there is a meeting held to discuss honor code violations and academic improprieties. *pause* This is not that meeting."
Whew.
Turns out, Mike was inducted into the Barristers. We're still not really sure what it is, but out of the entire law school, Mike was one of seven chosen. Each inductee was presented to the vast audience by a current member of the Barristers, along with a couple of slides on a PowerPoint about them. It was really cool to hear someone else talk about Mike and all of his accomplishments, and pretty funny too.
Next week is Mike's last week of class for the semester, and finals start the week after that. Then he will have ONE. SEMESTER. LEFT. It's like, just as soon as I got used to him being in school, it's almost over. Craziness, I tell you. Craziness.
Good job, babe!
