Tea time

I had this huge, elaborate plan for Maddy's party, but with everything else we had going on during the end of September and all of October, I just thought my head might explode if I tried to go through with it. (I can't tell you what the plan was, I think we're going to use it next year, haha.) After scrapping that idea, I thought it would be cute to have a little tea party for Maddy and her friends.

Of course all the ideas in my head didn't really turn out, but oh well. I kept thinking of lace and burlap and pale pink and bubble gum. You know? Anyway. I had so much help from my mom, and of course Mike - couldn't have gotten everything done without them.

The menu was little rolls with jelly, cheese & crackers, grapes, strawberries, Oreo balls and punch. I wanted to make these adorable little napkin holders I saw on Pinterest (which is feeding my obsession with all things twine & burlap, thankyouverylittle!), and almost got a sewing machine just so I could do it, but at the last minute, I used hot glue. And then, I realized at the very last minute, I forgot napkins! Bah! Good thing I had some bright green ones from last year... The party favors were a laugh-a-minute when I realized the sucker I bought for each of them said B-A-B-Y. Duh. I just thought they were so perfectly pink!!! *sigh* I made each of the girls little rosette necklaces, added a little notebook and called it good.

When I was thinking of the party, I thought dresses as in church dresses. But when everyone came they were wearing princess dresses. Totally fine, but boy did Maddy look silly. ;) So she ended up grabbing one of her dresses and looked perfect.

All of her friends were SO generous. She got a bunch of great gifts, including some little stuffed characters from Angry Birds, her favorite game. She was in heaven!

I set up a small table on the floor, thinking they could all sit and eat there. It didn't end up how I envisioned it at all, but with a budget of almost $0 and a very fried brain, it ended up being just fine.

After eating, the girls went and trashed played in the kids' room. Then there was some cupcake eating and more playing.

Just before everyone left, the girls started playing with the balloons. These two pictures made me laugh, I just had to post them.

Crazy girls!

This is awesome! I've learned to let most of my visions go, knowing they won't ever turn out like I picture them- but I like your visions- they're way better than mine! From decorations to party favors (um, hello, rosette necklaces???) you did a fab job- and she will just remember how fun it was! Happy birthday!
