An American hero

America lost a great man today. Ryan Sharp, who is the brother of one of our good friends, passed away today. Ryan served in the US ARMY and was stationed in Afghanistan, and was hit by an IED bomb a couple of days before Thanksgiving. There are many more details than that, including an amazing example of the power of the priesthood, but the sad fact is that Ryan didn't make it.

I am heartbroken for my friends and for their family, and for the suffering they're going through. Not to mention that he leaves two little girls behind... I'm also heartbroken because I haven't seen anything on the news about Afghanistan / Iraq in quite some time. People don't seem to talk about it anymore. Have people forgotten that there are still brave men and women over there, fighting for freedom?! I know I haven't!!!

If you could please keep the Sharps in your thoughts & prayers, I know they will appreciate the support. And please keep the families of military men and women in your thoughts as well - they face harsh realities that most of us can't even fathom.

Thank you, Ryan, for your service, and for the ultimate sacrifice - your life.

I'm so sad to hear this. Will definitely keep them in my prayers. It is sad that we don't hear more about what is really happening over there...unfortunately, we can thank the liberal media and our current administration for that.

My heart just breaks for their family. I started tearing up while reading your post, especially because it made me think about Eric. The priesthood it pretty amazing and I am so grateful to have that knowledge. Tell your friend Karen I am sorry and they will be in my prayers.
