No I will not Carpe Diem, thank you...
kai·ros
noun \(ˈ)kī¦räs\
“A moment of indeterminate time in which something special happens.”
Mike went back to school last week (last semester!) and we're back to the grind. It's been kinda nice actually, to get back on schedule. I get the kids dinner, bath and then bed pretty easily for the most part. It's nice to know I can do things all by myself. :)
A friend from BabyCenter posted a link to THIS ARTICLE and my head just exploded. In a good way. It is exactly, exactly my words!! Well, written much more eloquently than I could ever do, but seriously. She's in my head! Some of you might remember my friends from BabyCenter, and our board name: I Love Being a Mom, I Just Hate Doing It. Now, we really felt that way when we all had 5 month old babies who never slept, had colic and / or reflux, or we just couldn't figure out how our new life fit into our old life. (Surprise! It didn't!!) Anyway, now that we're all, seasoned moms, and what-not, things are easier. But the same message holds true. We don't enjoy every single little itty bit of being mothers. Do we love our kids? YES. Have we settled into things? YES. Are we frustrated at times? SURE.
One day last week, a friend and I were talking about all those little moments, where you just look at your life and go, Oh dear, I love this! I had a moment like that just before that conversation. We were driving in the car, and the sun was shining, and Maddy was saying the funniest, sweetest things in the backseat, Hudson was just sitting there listening to her. It was all very adorable. And I thought to myself, THIS is what I love. These quiet moments that I can think about later. Those are the moments I live for. Kairos. They make all the nonsense - the wetting of the bed, the hitting, the hands in the toilet, the breaking of things, the tantrums, all of it - worth it. And no, the hard times don't happen too frequently, but if it's something I really don't like, like being lied to, or hit, NO - I don't want to enjoy them, and you can't make me. ;)
This article had me laughing and crying and nodding my head in a 'Heck YEAH!' kinda way. I loved it. So go read it.
And carry on, warrior!

4 Two Cents Worth:
Wonderfully written, dear.
I saw this article linked from another friend's blog, too. I liked her take on it...and the bits about kids in grocery lines :)
AMEN!! Thanks, Warrior Sista!
I loved this article too!
