Hudson potty-training. Wellllll, thought I would write down my feelings on it.
I'd heard doing potty-training before said child is "ready" would only lead to the parents being trained to ask them at set intervals and not really teach the child. Of course, like with anything else, I scoffed and said, that's ridiculous.
I'm starting to understand.
Maddy had her issues, but either my memory is failing me, or she 'got it' much quicker.
Hudson does pretty well most of the time, I guess. But he does not want to stop what he's doing to go to the bathroom. And he doesn't give a flying flip if he pees or poos in his pants. He says "Eees funny." Or, when I ask him why he did it, he says, "Because eees so fun," or "Because I want to."
We've got it down to him going #2 in the toilet of his own accord 95% of the time. {Except for when he was at Karen's house while I went visiting teaching and... well, you can guess what happened. Poor Karen. That's a true friend, right there.} As far as #1, I usually just make him go every... I don't even know, 2-3 hours? I don't really even give him the chance to wait and tell me, because I am so tired of doing his laundry. Seriously, I've never washed so much little person laundry, even when they were babies and had blowouts. Blech. I feel like he did better the first couple of weeks at telling me he had to go, but now he just doesn't care.
Add that to me being peed on in the face the other day {traumatic}, I'm just kinda meh about this whole thing.
Thoughts? Is this normal?

C definitely like home-pot advantage. He will not go #2 anywhere but our house and my mom's because it'slike his second home- and she has the exact same potty seat. I had to make him go in intervals as well because he too would get busy with playing. But he didn't ever pee his pants- but that's because he's a holder! However, when he did have accidents (little ones) I did make him clean it up. Rag and all. I read somewhere to never tell them "it's okay" when it happens. You can be firm and say, "pee pee goes in the potty" but never tell them an accident is "okay" because it's not.
Oh, these crazy milestones! It's hard to be patient, I know! But he'll get it. Or you can just let him sit in it until its bothersome enough that he does want to clean it off...
Speaking from my own experience with my 2 of 3 boys...it is normal. Every boy does it differently and it is exhausting (yay, for baby boy #3...not). Mine had relapses of peeing in their pants (maybe it was an exhausted Mommy), but they eventually got it. I know how it is and it is exhausting. Hang in there, he will be potty-trained soon enough.
I make my kids go to the bathroom every 45 minutes or so for a while until there are no more accidents. That way there is no chance for an accident because they are squeaking out every little bit each 45 min. When good with that I got an hour and then hour fifteen and so on. Good luck.
I think Hudson is doing a pretty darn good job with the training, considering his age and it's only been a couple of weeks. Right? I do agree he should be 'made' to sit on the pot every 45-60 minutes. No matter how much he fusses. Good luck, honey.
I feel you sister! Good luck! With Cooper we did go every 45 minutes for a while and then gradually stretched it out. He got a reward for telling me he had to go and then he really got good at it. Every kid is different though, because there is no way Britton would be made to go potty if he didn't want to. He tells me and I have just had to learn to trust him even if it takes him 5 hours to do so. My two cents is I think boys are just too interested in what they are doing and don't want to stop their project even for a call by nature. So we could wait until they are not like that (4 or 5 maybe?) or just go for it and deal with the accidents that ensue. You handle it great and are such a great momma to that boy. He will get it, he just might never be as into it as Maddy was. Boys and girls are so different. Shocker, I know...
