At the very end of November, we were able to decorate our tree. I always have an idea in my head of how it's gonna go, and so far, it hasn't. We'll listen to Christmas music and drink hot chocolate and there'll be a fire going in the fireplace... Well, we don't have a fireplace, and my kids decided they don't like hot chocolate!!! ("It's hoooooooooot!!!" they said. Hmph.) Anyway, the kids are very eager to help decorate, and while I want to let them, I want my tree to not be all lopsided. (Call me crazy.) I tried to point them in the right direction but gave up after awhile, and then when they weren't looking, I kinda evened things out a bit. They both had to take a turn putting the star on the top, luckily Mike was happy to oblige them.

With that taken care of, the Christmas season was ready to begin!!! First off, it was finally our turn for the Elf-on-a-Shelf to make an appearance. {Truth be told, I've not been a huge fan of these things. Basically anything really 'trendy' makes me itch. Some friends of mine have had them for years and I finally became okay with the idea this year.} I'd made a sorta advent activity calendar for the month, and on the night it was our 'Dress up Date Night,' we were getting ready to leave and the doorbell rang. I had Maddy answer it and she was SHOCKED to see a box on the porch. We opened it up and the kids were soooo confused by it all. On the way to dinner, I read the story (twice!) to the kids, to kinda catch them up to speed. After a great night out, the kids were ready to come home and look more at Sparkle Red. (I know, right?) Sparkle Red didn't cause too much damage, and there were nights he kinda just stayed where he'd been the night before, but overall, it was the coolest thing to watch the kids watch him and wonder about him and talk about him. Hudson really didn't care too much about the consequences of him being naughty (and Sparkle Red going back to Santa to report his behavior), but Maddy was very cognizant of every little thing both of them did that might look bad. It was hilarious.

He really is a charmer.
And to think I used to be so creeped out by these things!

We also went down to Waxahachie to see their Bethlehem Revisited display. We went a couple years ago and LOVED it, and while it wasn't quite the same experience this year (we went on Sunday this year, the last day it was open and there were HUGE crowds), we'll definitely go back again next year. I highly recommend it if you're in the DFW area. It's free, yo.

Some of my favorite pictures from the night. As you can see by the middle picture, we clearly thought it was going to be colder than it was - those are the girls bundled up really tight right as we got out of the cars.

Maddy & I went up to Heather's house for some Christmas cookie / treat making. We did it last year and since it turned out so well, we thought, Why not? We were especially lucky this year because now my mom lives here, and Heather's mom was in town too.

For Sarah's birthday, Karen had us all over for some appetizers, hot chocolate & cupcakes. A winning combination, if you ask me.

Afterwards, we went and saw Breaking Dawn (again) spent some cash at Forever 21. A good night!! Love that girl!

Maddy's school Christmas party was AWESOME! Mostly because I'm not the room mom this year so I can sit back and relax, right? Oops. Maybe not. I was asked to do the craft for this party and happened upon THIS on Pinterest. Since Maddy's class is so small this year, it was definitely doable. The kids loved it. I started out with singing 'Once There Was a Snowman' with them. Thankfully there are two other Mormon kids in Maddy's class because we were the only ones singing it!! BWAHAHA. Who knew? While not quite on the 5th grade level that the creator designed it for, I changed it so the kids could finish the sentence 'My snowman melted because..." Most of the kids said "Because the sun came out." Of course Maddy had to do something different.

The highlight of her party was NOT Hudson peeing his pants while he was playing with all the classroom toys. Nor was it when both teachers both pulled me aside privately and mentioned they'd thought he had peed his pants. Nope. Not at all.

So many fun things!!
Aaaand I'm spent.
